SUFS endorsements promote candidates who will protect science and democracy, replace anti-science members of Congress in 2027

Donald Trump and his war on science are more unpopular than ever. Candidates like Dan will be key to electing a robust pro-science majority this November.”

WASHINGTON, DC, UNITED STATES, October 21, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Today, Stand Up for Science proudly announces another official endorsement of a pro-science Congressional candidate in the upcoming 2026 midterm elections: Dan Barrios, running in Texas’ 32nd Congressional District. The endorsement recognizes Barrios’ commitment to protecting public health and research, defending evidence-based policymaking, and pushing for government accountability.

Dan Barrios is a lifelong Texas resident and currently serves as a Richardson City Councilman. He believes good government can deliver for everyone, not just the few in power. His priorities for Congress include addressing taxes and affordability, restoring trust and accountability, ensuring quality public education and access to healthcare, and addressing challenges that rural areas face, like access to hospitals and pharmacies, underfunded schools, and enacting policies that support Texas ranchers and farmers.

A Stand Up for Science endorsement lets voters know that a candidate is a champion of science who will work on behalf of the people to preserve scientific freedom and integrity and keep political and ideological influences out of the scientific process.

“Dan Barrios’ priorities, based in public service to strengthen communities, supporting public education and STEM, and holding politicians accountable are the kinds of values SUFS is proud to stand by. Stand Up for Science is excited to endorse Dan Barrios for Congress in Texas’ 32nd District,” said Dr. Colette Delawalla, Founder and CEO of Stand Up for Science.

“Donald Trump and his war on science are more unpopular than ever. Candidates like Dan Barrios are competing on tough terrain and expanding the map. We’re proud to join his fight to give Texas’s 32nd real representation — candidates like Dan will be key to electing a robust pro-science majority this November,” said Vincent Vertuccio, spokesperson for Stand Up for Science.

Stand Up for Science endorsements are awarded after a careful vetting process. Stand Up for Science previously announced a slate of congressional candidate endorsements earlier in October.

Delawalla and Vertuccio are available for comment and media appearances.
