Company transports YouTube restorer Allan Harpham’s vintage forklift from Nebraska to its Kentucky factory
Harpham’s series, “1959 Clark Clipper Forklift Restoration,” followed the rebuild of a vintage CLARK truck in close detail. CLARK’s marketing team found the project, began engaging with the channel, and struck up a correspondence with Harpham that continued for several months.
Harpham had the Clipper almost fully restored. When he started the truck, it briefly ran before stalling and refusing to restart. He was diagnosed soon after with a health issue that required him to scale back work on the project. The CLARK team decided the company should finish the restoration for him. President and Chief Executive Officer Chuck Moratz and Senior Vice President Bob Martinolli agreed and sent a truck to Nebraska to bring the Clipper to the factory and put CLARK factory technicians on the problem.
The forklift is now in Lexington. Factory teams are working to return it to running condition, and CLARK plans to deliver the completed machine back to Harpham.
“This truck is part of our story,” said Chuck Moratz, President and Chief Executive Officer of CLARK Material Handling Company. “Allan put five years of care into a 1959 Clipper and invited people to watch every step. When the project needed a different kind of help, the right answer was to bring it home, finish the work, and give it back to him running.”
The effort pairs a piece of CLARK product history with the people who still build and support the brand — and with the independent restorers who keep vintage equipment in public view.
“I don’t know how to put it. I couldn’t believe someone wanted to do that for me,” Harpham said.
What’s next
CLARK will return the finished Clipper to Harpham. The company will announce timing and any public reveal of the factory work when the truck is ready for delivery.
