Kremlin unveils anticipations for next Ukraine discussions
During the last round, both sides exchanged draft peace proposals and agreed on humanitarian measures, including prisoner swaps and the repatriation of soldiers’ remains. Peskov confirmed that discussions in the upcoming session would build on those memorandums, though the exact date will be announced once finalized by both delegations.
While downplaying expectations of a "miraculous" breakthrough due to the complexity of the conflict, Peskov rejected the idea that the negotiations are futile. He cited prior progress on humanitarian issues as evidence of productive dialogue.
Peskov also reaffirmed Moscow’s commitment to achieving the objectives it set at the beginning of the conflict. However, when asked if a peace agreement could be reached within a year or another defined period, he said any prediction would be unreliable given the many uncertain factors.
